Biology/Bioinformatics Business Analyst
The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated team player with a strong understanding of biology and bioinformatics, as well as extensive experience in data management and data analysis with a proven record of building effective solutions for scientists, especially for target and drug discovery.
Responsibilities:
Actively work with research scientists in target discovery and drug projects to understand their needs
Business and process analysis in a fast moving research environment with heterogeneous user groups in different sites
Define data management solution(s) to meet the scientific needs based on the global application portfolio
Work as part of a global team or as a team lead with UX experts, software developers and project managers to rapidly deliver new solutions to the scientists using an agile project methodology
Effectively communicate with team members and users in different sites and cultures
Perform rapid prototyping to gather the requirements and provide input for enterprise application development teams
Customer facing role accountable for the timely delivery and communication of results to the scientists
Collaborate with a team of service managers, training and communication experts to ensure the smooth rollout of new solutions and foster the adoption by the scientific community
Skills:
Minimum five years of experience in a scientific or biotech environment, a masters degree in biology, bioinformatics or a related field, and experience in a biomedical research or pharmaceutical environment.
Advanced degree in biology, bioinformatics and/or computer science
At least 5 years experience in a scientific or biotech environment
Extensive experience working with research scientists on requirements gathering and solution definition
Good understanding of the biomedical research process, experimental methods and data generated in the labs, especially in target and drug discovery projects
Experience with agile software development methodologies such as SCRUM
Experience with bioinformatics and omics data management
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Education:
MS or higher in biology, bioinformatics, or computer science
