You are someone with natural software skills and some great ideas and are looking for a new outlet to exercise them.We are seeking a highly experienced software engineer to work with a team to develop, automate and test F5's new cloud products. We want to use our own products to automate building dev environments, reproduce customer environments, create new environments not yet thought of. We want our customers to have access to the same awesome tools we use as developers, to help them deploy and maintain their data centers.RESPONSIBILITIES* Design and architect features of F5 products, development systems and automation tools.* Productization of automation tools to drive our virtualization and clustering technology.* Designs abstracted public APIs to bridge and protect diverse systems.* Instrumenting product code for maintainability, testability, and diagnostics.* Creation and configuration of networks, virtual & physical servers, switches, routers, DB servers, network appliances, and lots of cool test infrastructure.* Ongoing maintenance of F5s product features and functionality.* Document software designs via functional specifications and other design documents.QUALIFICATIONS* A bachelor degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent* 7 years industry experience, with increasing responsibilities* Experience in distributed computing, and designing large scalable systems* Very strong C/C and python programming skills* Excellent software design instincts and coding style* Understanding of IP networking basics: L2, L3, L4, L7* Extremely comfortable programing on Linux type operating systems* Strong communication skills, in writing plans, functional specs, and speaking* You are someone who naturally automates processes, tests, and operations.* A positive, team-oriented attitude* A strong passion for technology and learning* Experience with any of the following a big plus: network design and administration; automation of operating system installs; administrating web servers and SQL databases; scalable data stores; virtualization technologies; data center automation and orchestration* Familiarity of modern GUI frameworks a plus.
