The Software Engineer 2 codes software applications based on business requirements. The Software Engineer 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

Responsibilities


The Software Engineer II works with other software engineers through the development lifecycle, actively works to learn the team's technology stack, designs and implements small to medium-scale software solutions to meet business needs, and takes an engineering approach to problem-solving.


The Software Engineer II also develops normalized relational databases optimal for application development and data reporting purposes, works with internal stakeholders, with guidance from senior team members, to understand underlying business needs from a technical perspective and designs and creates effective databases to match these needs, understands customer needs and effectively coordinates projects with customers and other team members.

Required Qualifications


Experience working with Humana's Health Quality Reporting and Improvement Technology and Analytics
Demonstrated ability to develop stored procedures to automate SQL processes to support analytic and transactional applications
Can write modular, well documented code and independently create small to medium scale software solutions
Seeks out and explores data from multiple sources, applying best practices to understand, clean, and develop data assets
Ability to work directly with internal partners to identify business needs and develop solutions with guidance from senior team members.


Preferred Qualifications


Master's Degree
Significant experience with Python, MS SQL Server, Oracle, and C#.
Experience with ETLs and automation using general purpose programming languages
Experience managing version control, preferably Git
