**Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) Manager -** **Long Term Care (Nursing Administration, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Extended Care in Anchorage, Alaska.** **We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.**
**In this position you will:**
LEADERSHIP: Provides visionary leadership and helps every team member to understand and achieve the resident-directed care model in the cottage setting. Role models, mentors and teaches staff to utilize every aspect of the environment and care model to promote quality of care, quality of life and a sense of belonging. Uses leadership principles to anticipate and influence change. Determines resources and actions needed to accomplish objectives. Sets priorities and manages time effectively. Identify potential problems/opportunities and plans for contingent action. Develop new and unique ideas to improve existing systems or operations and when new organizational approaches are needed. Encourage innovative efforts in others. Seek creative methods to resolve conflicts. Maintains awareness of accident prevention practices and provides a safe work environment.
HUMAN RESOURCE STEWARDSHIP: Uses independent judgment, effectively recommending and/or taking action related to interviewing hiring, transfers, promotions, evaluating performance, overstaff, layoffs, disciplinary action and employee complaints and concerns. Conduct and document employee performance on an annual basis and as needed. Uses appropriate interpersonal skills to guide others to accomplish objectives, facilitates teamwork, participation and cooperation. Delegates work so subordinates have the necessary direction, authority and skills to complete assignments.
SCHEDULING: Utilizes staffing management principles to assure the right numbers of staff to meet resident care needs. Maintains effective position control to effectively manage resources and communicate clear needs. Plans for seasonal fluctuations and anticipates changes that may impact staffing. Responsible for the preparation of the work schedule, approves employee requests for time off. Makes adjustments in daily schedules according to changes in staffing. Manages On-The-Job recovery program work assignments.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT: Facilitates/participates in the annual development and implementation of the facility QI plan, addressing all aspects of clinical and business objectives and strategic plan. Indicators are identified and improvement processes utilize PDCA structure. Strives for and consistently achieves excellence in care provided to residents.
SERVICE EXCELLANCE: Models time management, conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline, accountability and responsibility. Collaborates with all appropriate Departments to promote optimal resident entered care, Eden alternative and customer service. Supports and promotes Service Excellence. Supports and fosters an environment to promote employee and resident survey participation. Reviews survey results with staff, develops action plans using staff input. Implements, monitors and adjusts action plans to achieve customer satisfaction.
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS: Develops, modifies and implements resident centered care standards, policies, procedures and protocols. Establishes clear clinical practice expectations for resident care using department philosophy. Demonstrates the Leadership principles of Culture Change.
TEAMWORK AND COMMUNICATION: Assigns work and responsibly directs staff. Creates supporting systems that enable staff and empower team members to jointly plan and deliver care. Role models collaboration and partnership with physicians, primary staff, residents, families and other departments. Schedules regular meetings with direct report staff to provide supervision, assure communication and to monitor operations.
**Qualifications:**
**Required qualifications for this position include:**
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Must maintain a current Alaska Registered Nurse license
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire
2 years recent clinical supervisory experience
Experience/expertise in gerontological nursing is necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
**Preferred qualifications for this position include:**
Current Alaska Drivers License
American Nurses Association Certification in Gerontological Nursing
Experience in nursing management in long-term care
Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement
**About Providence Extended Care at the Cottages**
Providence Extended Care at the Cottages is located on a campus that includes eight cottages and a Commons Building. The Cottages are home to 96 residents. The Commons Building includes the facility reception area, Resident Bank, Gift Shop, Rehabilitation Therapies, Chapel, Supplies, Plant Services, Dietary, Support Services, Staff Development, Administration offices and Conference Rooms. The Cottages bear the names of Alaskan rivers and are arranged in alphabetical order along Compassion Circle.
Each cottage is a home that contains 12 private bedrooms/baths situated around a warm, inviting hearth and living area. An open kitchen allows residents and guests to enjoy the aromas and happenings of a kitchen, just like home. Each Cottage includes a Den along with a Spa and beauty/barber shop station. A patio off the dining area provides easy access to the outdoors and gardening opportunities. Large windows in the living area provide views for all to enjoy.
