Senior Application Engineer - Temporary','210631','Laboratory - Computer','Washington-Seattle','Days','8 hours per week','8 hours per week','8 hours per week','8 hours per week','1 day per week, variable','1 day per week, variable','','','!*!In this Temporary, part-time position you will aid/enable quality patient care by providing project management, production support and service for the Lab applications and platforms supported and managed by Virginia Mason’s IS department. Partner with other Information Systems/Technology teams, VMMC business units, external customers and vendors to maximize system availability, capacity, and functionality. Serve as a resource for implementation, enhancement, and system integration initiatives. Provide tiered expertise in response to system incident and problem management. Develop materials and documentation on supported system elements, workflows, and processes.
Project, Enhancement, and Work Requests
· Complete service or enhancement request, as assigned
· Observe departmental standards for documenting work
· Initiate functional analysis of customer requirements
· Direct interaction with vendor; function as liaison between customer and vendor
· Engage senior analysts, based on work complexity or impact
· Under guidance and direction of a supervisor/manager, provide technical project management; may develop and maintain projects plans
· Manage non-project related work efforts
· Serve as project resource, as assigned
· Evaluate new application functionality; make recommendations
Incidents, Problems, and Change Management
· Troubleshoot incidents
· Create and submit Change Management items (following standard documentation process)
· Assist with problem management
· Assist Information System Help Desk with improving “first call resolution” effectiveness
· Serve as escalation support point; provide in-depth evaluation and analysis; can resolve most issues; escalate to senior analyst as needed
· Develop standard work and process flows
Production Support & Maintenance
· Monitor application; perform health, capacity, and availability management
· Install application patches, updates, and fixes
· Work with other application and infrastructure teams
· Test and validate applications
· Mentor junior staff
· Provide application training, knowledge transfer, and corresponding material development
Administrative and Other Duties
· Perform “on-call” support, as required
· Assist with staff recruitment and process, as required
· Perform other duties, as assigned

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Minimum of 6 years experience working with computers
Working knowledge of programming languages and database design
Extensive knowledge of PC, mainframe, and network technology
In-depth understanding of the client's business
Strong task management skills
Excellent communication skills, strong analytical skills, effective interpersonal skills, and the ability to be flexible and handle multiple tasks.
