Description
The Library Program Manager manages all resources of a specialized program by managing daily operations, formulating policies, and planning use of materials and human resources. The scope of work includes strategic planning, development of short- and long-term goals, and oversight of human and financial resources. This position is responsible for supervising help desk personnel.
Responsibilities
Work is performed under the supervision of the Library Director. Responsibilities include:
Providing quality assistance to library patrons and training student employees to provide the same
Managing and mentoring work-study students and employees paid through student fees, including scheduling, training, and professional development
Managing circulation of materials, including providing responsible stewardship of the print and electronic collections
Ensuring the operability of library equipment and resources, including maintaining certifications for numerous technologies and working closely with campus IT staff and third-party vendor IT staff
Promoting library efforts and programming, including social media content creation
Aligning daily efforts with the applicable indicators specified in the Library Strategic Plan
Overseeing the daily operations pertaining to the operating budget, including procurement of physical and digital materials
Contributing to library programming efforts with a focus on efforts designed to promote a culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion
Maintaining a library policy and procedures manual
Creating budgetary, analytical, and statistical reports
Frequent continuing education, primarily in regard to safety/emergencies, emerging technologies, and best practices in undergraduate research
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree
Previous supervisory experience
Previous experience managing financial resources
Proficiency using Microsoft Office products
The ability to quickly master various established and emerging technologies, including Databases and the Library Management System
Technology troubleshooting skills
The ability to maintain equanimity while diffusing challenging behavior
The ability to work independently
Preferred
