Associate Vice President of Human Resources
Duties: Under the direction of the President, as the chief human resources officer and the College’s primary representative responsible for enhancing the performance, satisfaction, and success of employees. Responsible for articulating the College mission, values, goals, and strategies, while working collaboratively with the President’s Cabinet to achieve institutional objectives. Fostering a climate of service excellence, collaboration, recognition, and respect. Responsible for the overall leadership and administration of the functional activities of the Human Resources Department, including: employee relations; talent acquisition and management; employee retention and recognition; compensation and benefits; labor strategy and negotiation; regulatory compliance; and wellness initiatives. Ultimately, this critical position provides overall leadership, direction, and support for planning, organizing, maintaining, and evaluating the Human Resources functions for **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***... Actively contribute ideas and input to College administration. Support the College mission and actively work toward achieving the College’s goals and strategies. Administer employee and labor relations efforts. Administer and respond to changes in all regulatory reporting requirements related to employment. Create and deliver talent management solutions that align with the institution’s mission and service standards. Establish and administer the maintenance of comprehensive personnel records for all active and inactive College employees. Develop, implement, and maintain procedures to ensure confidentiality of all employment materials, files and records. Effectively onboard new administrative employees. Administer employee benefit programs: Insurance, optional benefit programs, and Flexible Spending Accounts o State Universities Retirement System (SURS); Employee Assistance Program; Leave Plans; Tuition waiver and reimbursement; Unemployment. Develop and administer College Service Award Program. Coordinate the annual Employee Appreciation and Recognition Reception. Support employee recognition programs. Direct the development of job descriptions. Oversee job evaluation procedure and instruments. Manage contract negotiations and contract administration with three bargaining units: MCC Full-time Faculty Association; MCC Staff Council; MCC Adjunct Faculty Association. Collaborate with the Professional Development department in determining training needs for the College. Serve as College Ethics Officer/Title IX Administrator and member of College’s Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). Serve as liaison with college attorneys regarding Employment Law matters. Administer the classified and professional position classification system. Serve as a member of College committees as required. Administer equal opportunity and other personnel related laws and legislations. Serve as resource and provide assistance to employees on personnel-related issues, including conflict resolution. Provide consultative services to the President’s Cabinet, employees, and manage the confidentiality of Human Resources information. Promote and administer the College Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and serve as a liaison with the EAP Coordinator. Serve as primary contact for employee formal complaint process. Prepare internal or external personnel surveys as necessary and as directed. Distribute timely personnel-related information to employees. Attend monthly Board meetings. Plan and conduct weekly staff meetings. Provide direction and guidance to direct reports. Develop and monitor Human Resources Administrations, HR Health and Wellness, and Affirmative Action budgets. Assess and monitor HR computer systems as necessary for Human Resources functions and office. Communicate and meet with other community college Human Resources personnel and with state and local agencies as required to perform job responsibilities. Represent the needs of employees to the College administration. Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities. Support and participate in the College’s commitment to continuous improvement and the AQIP process of accreditation through appropriate participation in Action Team activities. Assume additional duties as assigned by President/direct supervisor.
