Want to Be Depression-free? Employment May Be the Answer; EmploymentCrossing Subscribes to the Idea

Pasadena, CA - The future of the youth in the US looks to be dangling in the maze of uncertainty. A news update based on a survey done by Gallup Healthways Well-Being Index reveals that, in the US, most cases of depression in people are due to unemployment.

According to the update, 1 out of every 10 Americans suffers from depression. Largely, the unemployed or jobless or part time workers desperately hankering for a full time job suffer from depression. The percentage of suffering from it is twice in the adults that are unemployed and are longing for work, compared to those having full time jobs.

The statistics derived from the survey are startling. It shows that the rate of depression in the category of people working and looking for employment is 16.6%, and it is 11.4% in the unemployed band. It is 10.6% among those employed part time and looking for full time jobs, whereas it is 7.6% in the category of those employed part time and don't desire to have a full time job.

In full time employees, the rate of depression is 5.6%, while it is 5.1% among those self employed on a full time basis. This survey was carried out from January 1 to July 25, 2013, with over a 100,000 people. In a nutshell, it means that the employed are much safer, as they have lesser chances of getting affected by depression over those unemployed and wanting to work.

It is said that the country's economic revival is expected to face more severe and negative brunt of the obstinately increasing percentage of underemployment and unemployment. The menace doesn't stop there; there's an all time risk to Americans' welfare and mental fitness, which can pose a bigger challenge to the nation at large.

It's a tight rope walking for the unemployed, and they seem to be grappling hard to make ends meet. At least that's what can be interpreted about the employment scene, going by the news update.

Adding to the woes is the increased cases of depression among the employed stratum, which has been burdening businesses, organizations, people and the economy at large, with expenditures piling up. To be specific, employers have been the most affected by the repercussions of the enormously growing percentage of depression cases; they incur a loss of up to $23bn per year, resulting from the loss of productivity due to non-attendance of the employees.

EmploymentCrossing fully supports the idea of people being employed, so that the chances of depression among people are dramatically reduced. According to them, opportunities are open only at the right avenues that take into consideration jobseekers' concerns and ensure that optimum benefits reach them.
