Animal science Jobs

The traditional definition of animal science describes it as the study of the biology of animals controlled by human beings. Earlier, animal science was primarily concerned with the health and well-being of farm animals. Today, animal care has expanded into newer areas like clinical trials, pet health, pet training, pet-sitting, breeding, husbandry, pet and animal nutrition, vaccination, and animal microbiology.
Animal science jobs include pet care, pet training, animal health, animal science research, and instructional positions. Examples of pet training and treatment jobs are manager of animal care, animal care technician, animal caretaker, animal care specialist, animal control officer, pet bather, and pet-sitter. Instructional position titles include assistant professor of animal science, animal science instructor, and animal science lecturer. Research positions include veterinary scientist, research associate, animal health consultant, and animal consultant. Special technician positions include animal science technician, animal husbandry technician, animal care technician, and lab animal technician.
Applicants for animal science jobs may need to have bachelor's degrees in related fields or pertinent training or certificates. Some organizations provide on-the-job training. Having relevant experience is always a plus.
