Volunteer Director Jobs

A volunteer director job involves researching and establishing new programming, actively recruiting volunteers, and promoting volunteer programs at the facility. A volunteer director provides leadership and direction to volunteer programs and services within the medical center that are responsive to the needs of patients and departments across the organization in accordance with the mission, vision, and values A volunteer director schedules all volunteers at the facility and manages volunteer programs in accordance with other programming at the center. A volunteer director creates volunteer plans and position descriptions in collaboration with program staff. A volunteer director regularly consults with those units which utilize volunteer services, acquires new donors and donations, and coordinates grant programs and funding. A volunteer director maintains volunteer policies and procedures to assure the legal and regulatory requirements related to volunteer services. A volunteer director communicates with corporations, businesses and community groups, explaining the organization’s activities and role of the volunteer program to increase and strengthen their involvement.

A volunteer director requires a bachelor’s degree in a human service related field, such as social work or social services with about four years of experience in volunteer coordination and networking; previous experience in social work and grant writing preferred. A volunteer director may required to possess a valid drivers’ license and a reliable, insured vehicle for travel, ability to effectively understand and communicate in English (verbally and in writing), work effectively with people, and be proficient in volunteer industry standards.
