A distinguished law firm based in Phoenix, AZ seeks a dedicated Associate Counsel to support its growing caseload in workers’ compensation defense and related legal matters. The role involves direct client interaction, courtroom representation, and strategic litigation support in a dynamic and collaborative legal environment. This opportunity is open to licensed attorneys passionate about advocating for insurers and employers within administrative and civil proceedings.
Represent clients in administrative hearings, mediations, and trials focused on workers’ compensation claims
Draft legal pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence related to case strategy
Advise clients on the implications and progression of workers’ compensation claims and procedures
Analyze legal precedents, statutes, and regulations across multiple jurisdictions
Review medical documentation, depositions, and discovery responses in support of litigation strategies
Prepare and respond to written discovery, conduct witness interviews, and participate in settlement negotiations
Maintain ongoing communication with clients, medical experts, opposing counsel, and internal teams
Support senior counsel on case strategy and litigation preparation as needed
Active licensure in good standing with at least one of the following state bars: Arizona, Colorado, or Utah
Located in or willing to relocate to Colorado, Arizona, Montana, or Wyoming
Ability to handle multiple active cases and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced setting
Proficient in independently conducting legal research, writing, and statutory interpretation
Prior exposure to workers’ compensation law, general liability defense, or similar practice areas is beneficial
Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management capabilities
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
Admission to practice in one or more of the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Utah
Additional Bar admissions in Montana, Wyoming, or New Mexico are advantageous but not required
Strong command of legal research platforms (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw)
Effective communicator, both in writing and verbally
Skilled in evaluating complex medical records and integrating findings into legal arguments
Knowledgeable in procedural rules related to workers’ compensation and civil litigation
Familiarity with insurance industry practices and terminology
Tech-savvy with experience using case management systems
