Duties

  • Handle all aspects of business collections, including demand letters, prove-up hearings, and debtor exams.
  • Represent creditors in court proceedings related to commercial debt recovery.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including complaints and motions.
  • Negotiate settlements with debtors to maximize recovery for clients.
  • Advise clients on legal strategies to recover outstanding commercial debts.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations applicable to business collections.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to manage case progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide exceptional client service with clear and professional communication.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in California.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in non-consumer business collections and/or commercial litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial debt collection laws and procedures.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, TLO).
  • Experience with Clio case management software is a plus.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in California.

Skills

  • Experience handling high-value commercial collections cases.
  • Familiarity with bankruptcy proceedings related to business debts.
  • Strong client relationship management skills.
