A respected national law firm specializing in creditor’s rights is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its litigation team in the Williamsville, NY office. This role involves managing a high-volume caseload of collection and litigation matters, including court appearances, drafting legal documents, and negotiating resolutions. The position is ideal for a motivated attorney licensed in New York with an interest in litigation and creditor’s rights law.

Location

Duties

• Draft and review legal documents including:

  • Summons & Complaints

  • Judgments

  • Settlement Agreements

  • Discovery responses

  • Motions and pleadings

• Appear in court for motion hearings, conferences, and trial calls

• Communicate with opposing counsel, clients, courts, and consumers

• Review lawsuits and pleadings for accuracy and legal sufficiency

• Coordinate and request court coverage when not personally appearing

• Attach and prepare all documentation and proposed orders needed for court coverage attorneys

• Maintain accurate records of case activity and communications

Requirements

• Active license to practice law in the State of New York

• Comfortable and punctual with in-person court appearances

• Must have own method of transportation

• Willingness to travel for hearings (mileage and firm-approved travel expenses reimbursed)

• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

• Active bar membership in New York

• Licensure in any of the following states is a plus: SC, IA, MO, KS, IL, NV, NE, ID, CA, WA, OR, AK, HI, NC

Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and legal reasoning skills

• Comfortable working independently and within a team

• Experience in litigation or collections preferred but not required
