Public Relations and Communications Manager
The candidate will develop and cultivate relationships with media contacts in each of the cities in which the firm has offices. Provide firm-wide public relations and communications support to the firm’s offices. Meet with attorneys and attend practice and industry group meetings as a public relations advisor in order to identify opportunities to promote the firm, practice and industry groups, offices and attorneys. Develop and pitch story ideas, articles, alerts, interviews and speaking engagements to the press and other outlets. Draft media pitches and press releases. Handle day-to-day press relations, media inquiries, external communications and crisis communications. Conduct research and prepare lawyers for press interviews, pitches and other marketing opportunities. Ensure the integrity and consistency of the firm name, its attorneys, its brand and messaging, internally and externally. Assist others in the Marketing Department with maintaining the firm’s social media presence, which includes assisting with drafting and posting articles, alerts, social media content, blog and website content. Track industry publications and recommend public relations opportunities to attorneys. Leverage the firm’s use of social media. Create and present media/public relations, social media and LinkedIn training seminars for Schnader attorneys. Negotiate and coordinate publication agreements. Provide assistance to others in the Marketing Department with rankings, surveys, award submissions, pitches and proposals, where necessary. Assist with Marketing intern selection process and managing interns. Fulfill other duties and projects as required by the CMO. Bachelor’s degree preferably in English, Journalism or Communications is required. Should have 3+ years of media relations experience in a professional services firm, preferably a law firm.
