A law firm in San Antonio is seeking a Tax Controversy Associate Attorney with 0-5 years of experience in tax controversy disputes, including audits, appeals, and litigation. The ideal candidate will have practical experience with substantive federal income tax issues, with corporate and partnership experience considered a plus. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and admission to practice in at least one state (Texas is a plus) are required.

 

Duties:

  • Handle tax controversy disputes, including audits, appeals, and litigation.
  • Provide legal advice and representation to clients on federal income tax issues.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on tax matters.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, and correspondence.
  • Communicate with clients, government agencies, and opposing counsel.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals on tax matters.
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 0-5 years of experience in tax controversy.
  • Practical experience with tax audits, appeals, and litigation.
  • Knowledge of substantive federal income tax issues.
  • Degree in accounting, CPA license, or LL.M. in Tax (helpful).
  • Excellent academic and employment credentials.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Admission to practice law in at least one state (Texas is a plus).

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Degree in accounting, CPA license, or LL.M. in Tax (helpful).

 

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in at least one state.
  • CPA license (helpful).
