Job Description:
What’s the role?
The Risk Reporting and Analytics team which will focus on the delivery of regular and ad hoc risk reporting and portfolio analytics to the commercial teams, the risk management teams and various other stakeholders such as the TSLT, EC and the production of risk information which will flow into external financial reporting.
Accountabilities:
Oversee the production of all daily reporting of risk metrics for T&S.
Own and operate the processes to calculate allowances for credit losses under IFRS9.
Provide ad hoc advanced analytics at a transaction level such as for the calculation of pre-deal exposures (potential future exposure, expected exposure, expected credit loss etc). Transactions can be long-dated and complex, often with embedded derivatives and may extend into illiquid parts of the curve.
Collaborate with and support Commercial / Credit / Market Risk / Valuation teams with production reporting of complex modelled contracts e.g. complex LNG contract modelling, market risk price stochastic models, structured credit agreements, multi-variate options, as well as other ad-hoc requests from commercial senior management.
Undertake portfolio level analytics, cutting exposures by sector, market type, rating, legal entity etc.
Coordinate the delivery of quarterly risk material to the T&S GRCA and Performance Meeting.
Produce other regular portfolio reporting such as the enterprise risk dashboard.
Act as the Business Application Owner for all IT systems which are owned by Risk.
Own the processes associated with reporting on behalf of the Credit and Market Risk Process Owners and ensure that these are appropriately documented.
Ensure that controls are designed and operated effectively to support accuracy of published reports as well as SOx financial reporting requirements.
Provide leadership and direction to the SBO team based in Chennai.
Contribute as an SME to reporting and analytics related projects as part of the transformation agenda within Risk.
Act as a centre of expertise for SME’s across Risk helping them to understand the drivers behind reported numbers/trends.
Interface with stakeholders in Shell IT, Risk Transformation, Risk Taskforce etc.
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum 10 years of related work experience.
Strong knowledge of Market Risk and Credit Risk fundamentals together with in-depth understanding of the quantitative methods which are commonly used.
Prior risk analytics experience not necessarily required but this role will manage individuals who are performing analytical work; the successful candidate must have the ability to understand what their staff are doing and to provide challenge to their methodologies and results.
Exposure to the types of quantitative and data challenges faced in a complex trading environment with multiple ETRM’s and sources of data is important.
Experience of having worked with BCBS239 reporting standards is beneficial.
Technical understanding of the suite of controls which are required to mitigate operational risks associated with risk reporting.
Sound understanding of current regulatory environment, including consultations for future regulation, and how these impact T&S.
Leadership Requirements for the role:
Strong commercial understanding, especially the ability to balance speed, cost benefit and long-term relationship management.
Proven credibility with senior business and finance stakeholders and colleagues, including the ability to communicate complicated ideas in a clear and uncomplicated fashion.
Strategic thinker with a proven ability to articulate a vision and to communicate this vision to key stakeholders.
Commercial understanding and good judgement to provide advice, whilst balancing risk and reward.
Strong communication skills, confidence to speak up and challenge plus ability to form effective relationships with stakeholders across Commercial, Risk, Compliance and Finance organizations as well as other support functions.
Experience in leading and motivating teams, including proven ability to manage and deliver through others, working with people from different cultural backgrounds and in a virtual, global environment.
