Controller
The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing financial controls, plans and budgets to support the strategic vision of firm and for coordination of financial audits and tax compliance. Also responsible for appropriately staffing, developing and overseeing the Accounting Department. Ensures all accounting activities are completed in accordance with GAAP and guidelines. Manages accounts payable, cash receipt, settlement and escrow functions. Monitors all disbursement activities. Ensure client costs contain appropriate approvals, review disbursements to ensure accurate account coding; ensures all controls are operating per company guidelines. Establishes, maintains and enforces approval policies for operating expenses. Processes partner draws and estimated tax payments in an accurate, timely fashion. Educates partners on financial issues as needed. Prepares and distributes monthly financial statements, management reports, annual budgets, monthly variance analysis to budget and department spending in a timely, accurate fashion while adhering to company guidelines. Manages entire payroll function. Reviews prior to processing and works with a third party administrator to ensure company remains in compliance with government and tax regulations. Oversees all accounting of 401(k) profit sharing plan, conducts testing and adjustments to ensure Plan passes all tests. Ensures all accounting systems are in good, operating order and arranges maintenance as needed. Provides effective and proactive leadership as a coach and role model to direct reports, to include performance management (and ensuring behaviors are in sync with core values), professional development, administrative oversight and guiding the team to achieve innovation and success. Collaborates with other departments to support employees and clients. Represents firm within the community. Performs other related duties as assigned.
