Executive Director Risk Management
Responsibilities: Directs the leadership of Property and Liability Insurance Programs by evaluating enterprise risks and recommending strategies to effectively protect assets and minimize liabilities. Directs the evaluation of property exposures and construction risks. Directs the establishment of comprehensive risk funding programs, including all interactions and negotiations with commercial insurance markets. Leads insurance broker and other vendor relationships. Has oversight, responsibility, and direction of annual insurance budget and associated allocations. Develops strategy and lead management of the captive subsidiary, CCHSICo, by assuring compliance with all regulatory matters. Has responsibility for actuarial reviews, policy issuance, and reinsurance treaties. Serves as Chair of Claims Review Committees; oversight for enterprise liability claims processes, including risk management information system (RMIS), claims reporting, establishment of reserves, claims adjudication, compliance with The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS); oversight for management and reporting of non-liability insurance claims; e.g., property, auto, Directors and Officers (D&O), employment practices, crime, and cyber. Leads the development and implementation of a multiphase Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program that provides a formal and systematic approach to the identification, assessment, prioritization and reporting of risks. Develops a strategy that leverages the ERM process to identify an enterprise risk profile that categorizes individual risks based on their impact upon the enterprise’s ability to meet its strategic objectives. Leads the risk assessment and mitigation processes whereby risk components are evaluated according to their likelihood of occurring and potential impact should they occur. Develops, implements and assesses risk mitigation activities to evaluate risk response effectiveness. Serves as Chair for the Enterprise Risk Management Steering committee and presents enterprise risk management findings and recommendations to executive management, including the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. Develops and executes strategies for both self-insured workers’ compensation and commercially insured programs by creating and maintaining reporting policies and procedures for on the job injuries and illnesses. Has oversight responsibility for accurate and comprehensive Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) logs and other regulatory reporting and workers compensation information system. Ensures accurate, timely and efficient practices and reporting to manage the claims process, including third party administrators and outside counsel relationships. Provides executive support for clinical risk management efforts by maintaining partnerships with Clinical Quality and Risk Management functions, including the safety event reporting system (SERS) and Disclosure programs. Partners with Clinical Operations, Institutes, and Regional Hospitals to develop world class risk management programs by evaluating risk, claims, and litigation information and implementing effective mitigation activities. Serves as chair for the Risk Steering Committee. Reviews Insurance and Indemnity provisions in all contracts in consultation with Law Department. Demonstrates strategic and very high level knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements relative to departmental operations and ensures compliance with the same. Prepares multiple departmental budgets and ensures that the departments operate in compliance with allocated funding. Other duties as assigned.
