Unpaid Internships for Law Students
Interns will work one-on-one with trial and appellate attorneys as well as on-staff investigators. Will research legal issues and write memoranda for trial and appellate attorneys. May be asked to draft pleadings to be filed in the U.S. District Court, Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals or U.S. Supreme Court. Visit detention centers to meet with clients and assisted with field investigations. Accompany lawyers to court proceedings. Attend staff meetings and strategy sessions. Expose to all facets of the federal criminal process and indigent criminal defense work while helping students improve their research and writing skills.
