A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney with over 6 years of experience in Business and Commercial Litigation for its downtown Houston, TX office. The firm represents clients in various commercial matters, including corporations, labor and employment, energy, real estate, and bankruptcy in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration.

Duties

• Manage a caseload of complex commercial litigation matters from inception through trial or settlement.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
• Prepare for and attend hearings, depositions, and mediation with witness responsibility.
• Advise clients on business and legal transactions.
• Negotiate settlements for legal disputes.
• Comply with all legal standards and regulations.
• Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar of Texas and in good standing.
• Previous experience in a law firm environment.
• Ability to take and defend depositions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build rapport with clients.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the State Bar of Texas.
