Spring Internship
Intern under the supervision of company’s experienced human rights attorneys, the Human Rights Legal Advocacy Intern will help company’s team implement legal advocacy initiatives for advancing women’s human rights and creating positive social change in contexts of war, conflict, disaster and their aftermath. Will learn practical skills of: Conducting legal research and producing memoranda and human rights reports and briefings in relation to company’s thematic issue areas, including women, peace and security; sexual and gender-based violence; rights of LGBTIQ people; climate justice; and rights of Indigenous and Afro-descendant peoples in conflict and disaster settings among others; Monitoring, analyzing and reporting on developments and trends in key international policy and decision-making spaces such as the UN Security Council with a view towards company’s legal advocacy work; Drafting memoranda, reports, and advocacy letters to UN and regional human rights bodies; Following and participating in UN processes, including the annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the High-level Political Forum, UN Security Council Open Debates and others as necessary; Representing company at meetings and events as necessary; Providing limited administrative and logistics support to the Advocacy team as required. Must be attending a law school in pursuit of a JD, or recently graduated from an accredited law school. Proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking) in Spanish and Arabic is highly desired.
