Job Overview:
A well-regarded family law firm is seeking a compassionate and skilled Associate Attorney to join its team in the California Bay Area. Location:

  • San Jose, CA

Duties:

  • Handle a variety of family law matters, including divorce, custody, support, and property division.
  • Represent clients in court and make all required in-court appearances.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Meet with clients to provide legal advice and updates on case progress.
  • Collaborate with paralegals, other attorneys, and administrative staff to ensure efficient case handling.
  • Attend mediation and settlement conferences to negotiate favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Maintain excellent communication with clients to build trust and ensure satisfaction throughout the legal process.
  • Stay current on legal developments and trends in family law.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in family law.
  • Active admission to the California State Bar and in good standing.
  • Exceptional writing skills, demonstrated through writing samples.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex legal issues clearly.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple cases.
  • A client-focused mindset with a commitment to exceptional service.
  • Strong references attesting to expertise and professionalism.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active California State Bar membership in good standing.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate professionally with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel.
  • Proven ability to manage various family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and property division.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and legal deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure, particularly during trial preparation or tight schedules.
  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills to advocate for clients in settlement discussions.
  • Willingness to work evenings or weekends when necessary to meet deadlines or handle urgent matters.
