Assistant Attorney General - Crime Victims Services
The candidate serves victims of crime by administering various programs that directly benefit victims of crime, including those that assist victims with the financial burden resulting from injuries of crime, that assist local crime victim service programs. The Division offers information, resources and financial assistance to crime victims and the organizations that assist them. Responsible for reviewing completed investigatory reports and preparing them for submission before the Court of Claims. Assistant Attorney Generals also represent the State of Illinois in Court of Claims hearings; appear before the Circuit Court; engage in personal and telephone contact with crime victims as needed and conduct other legal research as assigned. Must be licensed in the State of Illinois at the time of application. Preferred candidates will have experience in working with crime victims (including civil proceedings involving orders of protection and civil no contact orders) and a background in social work. Excellent organizational skills, strong legal writing, public speaking, computer skills, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively are essential functions of this position. Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
