WORK OBJECTIVE: Performs skilled work in the general and major repair of cars, trucks and other City heavy and light equipment. Work is performed under limited supervision with moderate latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Position relies on experience to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.
PAY RANGE $18-27.62 per hour
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position. Performs mechanical and service work on all City vehicles, trucks and other equipment to include tire replacement/repair, electrical repair, tune-ups, drive train repairs, and diesel repairs
Picks up and delivers vehicles to various vendors
Repairs parts on vehicles and equipment
Performs maintenance and repair of small engines and other small equipment
Services and maintains City vehicles
Mounts and repairs tires
May perform some fabrication on equipment and vehicles

None
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED; supplemented by three or more years’ mechanical experience in automotive/truck repair; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
