Founding Director/Professor for the Autism & Neurodevelopmental Disorders (AND) Initiative
Duties: Work with the and Initiative’s affiliated GW faculty from: the School of Law, Milken Institute School of Public Health, Graduate School of Education and Human Development, School of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences as well as with several related GW units such as the Mind-Brain Institute, Center for Applied Developmental Science and Neuroeducation, and the Department of Health Policy. Have a clear and compelling vision for improving outcomes for adolescents with ASD and other ND as they transition into adulthood, using the lens of research, treatment and policy. Expected to have a high-impact and recognized research program and/or notable experience in related fields of study, a well-established history of external funding and the demonstrated ability to proactively identify and engage private and public funding sources necessary to maintain a portfolio of grants, contracts, and other research funding for the AND Initiative. Will provide leadership in collaborating with different stakeholder groups, planning and assessing programs, developing plans to resolve operational problems and issues, and managing financial and human resources. Will serve as a spokesperson for the Initiative, communicating its research, treatment and policy efforts, as well as its position on emerging issues and funding needs within the ASD/ND community. Will advise the Vice President for Research and University Senior Leadership on the implementation and status of identified plans and goals for the Initiative and recommend the shifting of priorities as necessary.
