Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Associate with 2–4 years of experience in risk management and insurance to support its Complex Litigation and Dispute Resolution department. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to handle a variety of legal matters related to insurance placement, claims, and advisory services. The role is ideal for candidates with a foundation in insurance law and a desire to develop deep subject-matter expertise. This position is being recruited by a legal search firm on behalf of the hiring organization.

Location:

• San Francisco, CA

Duties:

• Advise on a broad range of risk management and insurance matters

• Assist with the negotiation and placement of standard and customized insurance programs

• Monitor and manage insurance claims across multiple coverage areas

• Provide legal guidance on coverage lines including:

  • Directors & Officers (D&O)

  • Errors & Omissions (E&O)

  • Cyber insurance

  • Transactional risk insurance

• Draft and review legal documents, insurance policies, and related contracts

• Collaborate with attorneys across offices and departments

• Offer internal guidance on complex insurance coverage issues

• Contribute to the firm’s problem-solving approach for insurance-related matters

Requirements:

• 2–4 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department

• Solid understanding of insurance coverage fundamentals

• Familiarity with the structure and trends of the U.S. insurance market

• Ability to manage work independently and within cross-functional teams

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Interest in developing subject-matter depth in insurance law

• Problem-solving mindset and creative legal thinking

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

• Strong academic credentials

Certifications:

• Active bar admission in a U.S. jurisdiction or eligibility to obtain admission promptly

Skills:

• Legal analysis and interpretation of insurance policies

• Drafting and negotiation of contracts and legal documents

• Client advisory and relationship management

• Research and risk assessment

• Team collaboration and project management
