A law firm seeks a Labor and Employment Counsel to join its team in Los Angeles, CA. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic group handling a wide range of employment-related matters for diverse clients across various industries.

Duties

• Independently manage and defend single-plaintiff employment cases from inception through resolution.
• Lead and execute defense strategies for wage and hour class actions and PAGA representative actions.
• Represent clients in administrative hearings and respond to EEOC and CRD charges.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, providing strategic counsel on litigation risk and case resolution.
• Mentor and supervise junior associates, offering guidance on legal research and professional development.
• Collaborate with partners on complex, high-exposure matters and contribute to business development.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant California labor and employment experience at a leading law firm.
• Experience managing the defense of wage and hour class actions and PAGA actions.
• Proven ability to manage single-plaintiff employment cases independently.
• Experience representing clients in administrative hearings and proceedings.
• Strong client relationship management skills and ability to serve as a trusted advisor.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior attorneys.
• Willingness to work with innovative technology platforms.
• Admission to the California Bar is required.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the California Bar.

Skills

• Excellent legal research, analysis, and writing abilities.
• Deep working knowledge of California state and federal court procedural and evidence rules.
• Strong strategic litigation judgment and business development skills.
