Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to represent mortgage servicers and investor clients in residential and commercial foreclosure, title, and real estate litigation matters. The position offers significant courtroom exposure and case management responsibilities from inception to resolution, including settlement negotiations and appellate work. Work arrangements are flexible and may include in-office, hybrid, or fully remote options based on candidate qualifications.

Duties:
Manage a caseload of contested foreclosures, real estate litigation, and ancillary matters
Prosecute commercial foreclosures from initiation to conclusion
Analyze loan files, title reports, and client documents to formulate case strategies
Draft motions, pleadings, settlement agreements, and discovery documents
Appear at settlement conferences, motion arguments, trials, hearings, and appeals
Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case status and strategies, utilizing client online portals where applicable
Collaborate with legal support staff on document preparation, filing, and client reporting
Conduct research and assist partners with complex case resolutions
Create and manage litigation budgets and obtain client fee approvals
Track billable and non-billable time as per client requirements
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant litigation experience preferred (less considered for otherwise highly qualified candidates)
Strong working knowledge of New York Mortgage Foreclosure Law and litigation procedures
Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload
Willingness to make court appearances and handle cases at various stages of litigation
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active and in good standing with the New York State Bar (required)
Admission in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and/or Connecticut (preferred, not required)
Skills:
Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy abilities
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
Strong interpersonal skills for client interaction and teamwork
High degree of professionalism under pressure
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Familiarity with legal billing practices and timekeeping standards
Proficiency with legal research databases and case management systems
