Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation Attorney to join its General Litigation group in New York City, NY. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in premises liability defense and property claims, with strong organizational, writing, and analytical skills. Trial experience is a plus but not required.

Duties

• Represent clients in all phases of litigation, including discovery.
• Ensure meticulous compliance with firm and client billing and reporting guidelines.
• Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences.
• Conduct complex legal research and discovery.
• Draft discovery demands, motions, case evaluations, settlement agreements, and legal memoranda.
• Conduct 50-h hearings on behalf of the City of New York, including questioning claimants and developing factual records.
• Review and analyze Notices of Claim, police reports, accident reports, and medical records.

Requirements

• Expert experience with New York General Municipal Law, CPLR, and City agency procedures.
• Superior court knowledge and experience arguing cases.
• Experience drafting briefs and pleadings.
• Experience taking and defending depositions.
• Minimum of 3 years admitted and practicing as an Attorney in NY in a defense firm.
• Admission in NJ is a plus but not required.
• Experience with 50-h hearings and cases involving false arrest, police misconduct, and civil rights claims.
• Strong organizational skills, time management, and adherence to strict deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and driven with a commitment to excellence.
• Proficient in Lexis/Nexis.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in New York.
