Job Overview:
A well-established law firm based in Kalamazoo, MI, is actively seeking a dedicated Family Law Attorney with a focus on divorce and child custody matters. This role is structured as a hybrid position, blending remote work with required in-office client meetings and occasional court appearances. Duties:

• Provide strategic legal guidance and advocacy in family law matters, including divorce and child custody cases

• Manage a dynamic caseload with a focus on client-centered outcomes

• Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and court orders

• Conduct in-person and virtual meetings with clients and attend court appearances as required

• Collaborate with a legal support team, including assistants and paralegals, to efficiently progress case matters

• Participate in mediation, negotiation, and litigation as needed

Requirements:

• 2-4 years of litigation experience, preferably in family law or closely related practice areas

• Active license to practice law in the State of Michigan

  • Indiana-licensed attorneys in the Michiana region open to Michigan licensure are encouraged to apply

• Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a supportive team environment

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple legal matters simultaneously

• Empathy, patience, and professionalism in handling sensitive family law issues

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the State Bar of Michigan (or eligible to waive in)

Skills:

• Proficiency in drafting legal documents and managing client expectations
