A law firm seeks a Technical Advisor to support its Patent Prosecution and litigation Practice Group in Greenville, specifically within the Electrical Engineering and software team. Duties:

  • Assist attorneys in prosecuting and litigating patent cases, focusing on electrical engineering and software technologies.
  • Conduct technical research, including analyzing patent documents, scientific literature, and technical specifications.
  • Draft and file documents such as patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop strategies for patent portfolios and manage legal risks.
  • Analyze emerging technologies, emphasizing wireless communication systems, including 5G and 6G networks.
  • Provide technical insights to legal teams and assist in preparing legal arguments based on complex engineering concepts.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic record with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • No prior intellectual property experience is required; however, a strong interest in patent law is necessary.
  • Experience or familiarity with wireless communication technologies, especially 5G, 6G, and 3GPP standards, is preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.

Certifications:

  • Not required, but any additional certifications in intellectual property or related fields are a plus.

Skills:

  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles and software development.
  • Familiarity with wireless communications, networking technologies, and/or telecommunications standards.
  • Strong research and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise language.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and patent research tools.
