A law firm is seeking a Projects (Regulatory) Counsel for their Austin, TX office.

 

Job Overview:

The Projects (Regulatory) Counsel will focus on the regulatory aspects of energy project development, financing, purchase and sale, and operation, particularly within the renewable energy industry. The candidate will handle power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and grid and transmission issues.

 

Duties:

  • Manage regulatory aspects of energy project development, financing, purchase and sale, and operation
  • Draft and negotiate power purchase agreements and other offtake agreements
  • Provide legal counsel on interconnection agreements and grid and transmission issues
  • Review and analyze project finance or project documents for energy transactions
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

 

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of legal experience in FERC electricity regulations
  • Exposure to project finance or project documents for energy transactions
  • Knowledge of renewable energy industry regulations is preferred

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in Texas or eligibility for admission

 

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases

 

Experience:

4+ years of legal experience with respect to FERC electricity regulations, preferably with exposure to project finance or project documents for energy transactions
