Job Overview

A law firm seeks a talented Patent Agent/Technology Specialist with a background in Synthetic Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry to join their legal staff. This role is based in a dynamic city, offering the opportunity to leverage scientific knowledge in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, and performing IP-related due diligence.

Duties

• Draft and prosecute patent applications.
• Write, develop, and edit material for reports, opinion letters, and technical publications.
• Analyze and prepare licensing agreements and investor due diligence studies.
• Synthesize information for patent applications using advanced chemistry knowledge.
• Assist partners with client counsel on patentability and validity analyses.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or equivalent in Synthetic Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry.
• 0-5 years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm setting.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Strong team player with a track record of effective collaboration.
• Impeccable attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is a plus.

Education

• Ph.D. or equivalent degree in relevant field.

Certifications

• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (optional).
