A law firm seeks a Patent Agent with semiconductor experience for its San Francisco, CA office. This role involves preparing draft patent applications and responses to USPTO communications, assisting attorneys in delivering quality legal services efficiently.

Duties

• Prepare draft patent applications incorporating scientific aspects of inventions.
• Draft responses to communications from U.S. and foreign patent offices.
• Discuss scientific aspects of inventions with clients and inventors.
• Act as liaison between inventors and the Patent & Trademark Office.
• Evaluate and report on technological aspects of inventions.
• Advise attorneys on general and specific technologies.
• Organize, analyze, and summarize documents.
• Communicate with staff, clients, vendors, and agency personnel.
• Identify and analyze complex patent issues and implement solutions.
• Provide direction to legal support staff as appropriate.
• Stay abreast of technology trends and make recommendations.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution in the semiconductor industry.
• Self-starter with a can-do attitude and excellent academic credentials.
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and draw inferences from research findings.
• Strong investigative and problem resolution skills.
• Advanced oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks under time constraints.
• Ability to travel as needed to assist in client matters.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, material engineering, physics, chemical engineering, or related technical field.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office preferred.

Skills

• Knowledge of principles and standards for drafting complex patent documentation.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information.
