Job Overview

A law firm seeks a midlevel associate attorney to join its Environment, Energy & Resources practice group in Chicago, IL. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of digital infrastructure and energy transition, engaging with state and federal regulatory frameworks to shape future energy landscapes.

Duties

• Negotiate power purchase agreements and custom energy service agreements.
• Advise on electric market design issues within RTOs/ISOs.
• Represent clients in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
• Counsel clients on emerging energy policy and renewable energy integration.

Requirements

• 3-6 years of experience in energy law, with regulatory and transactional experience preferred.
• Familiarity with the Federal Power Act and power market mechanics.
• Ability to draft bespoke energy contracts.
• Must be admitted to practice or eligible to waive in to the jurisdiction of office location.

Education

• JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
