Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Houston, TX is seeking a mid- to senior-level associate with specialized experience in transactional tax matters within the energy sector. This role offers the opportunity to engage in sophisticated partnership taxation work, collaborate across firmwide teams, and support clients in navigating complex tax structuring related to the energy industry. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong drafting skills, experience providing tax opinions, and a history of advising on partnership agreements.

Duties:

• Advise clients in the energy sector on transactional tax matters

• Draft and negotiate partnership agreements and related documentation

• Prepare and review tax opinions and memoranda

• Guide on federal income tax implications of transactions, particularly involving partnerships and joint ventures

• Collaborate with corporate, real estate, and project finance teams across the firm

• Participate in firm-sponsored professional development initiatives, including speaking and writing opportunities

• Engage directly with clients and internal teams to deliver strategic tax advice

Requirements:

• Relevant experience in a transactional tax practice

• Demonstrated focus on the energy industry, including experience with partnership taxation

• Proficiency in drafting tax-related legal documentation and opinions

• Strong communication and client-facing skills

• Prior experience at a law firm preferred; accounting firm background considered

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active law license in good standing with the State Bar of Texas

Skills:
