Reinsurance Contracts Counsel
The candidate will be responsible for: Independently produce and critique reinsurance contracts, binders, slips, endorsements and related documents, aligning written agreements with business intent and requirements. Advise, guide and steer various corporate functions regarding contract interpretation, application and best practices relating to routine as well as complex matters for all lines of business across Latin America (Mexico, Central and South America). Align reinsurance contracts with applicable law, regulations and internal requirements. Coordinate and communicate corporate policies on contract related matters. Maintain strong governance risk and control standards with respect to contract wordings and processes. Collaborate with internal partners, including Client Managers, Business Services, Claims, Technical Accounting, Actuarial, Legal, and Underwriting, in product development, negotiations and training. Support development and implementation of guidelines and processes and cooperative across functions to maintain existing (and develop new) tools, systems, and processes. Will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of relevant law, regulations and market practices in the Latin America region and apply these to reinsurance agreements. Must have Law degree or significant professional experience with reinsurance or insurance agreements. Should have 2+ years of (re)insurance industry experience as an attorney or related reinsurance experience such as a contract/policy specialist or claims handling role. Solid understanding of (re)insurance products and the Latin America (re)insurance market, risks, processes, controls and governance; experience working with both Life/Health and Property/Casualty products preferred. High-level fluency in Spanish and English, including business terminology, with additional fluency in Portuguese a plus.
