Job Title: IP Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm based in Houston, TX, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Intellectual Property Litigation Associate with 2 to 4 years of experience to join its rapidly growing IP and Technology Disputes group. The role offers a dynamic platform for early-career attorneys to contribute to sophisticated patent litigation and inter partes proceedings. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience in managing complex stages of litigation and the desire to work directly with senior litigators on high-stakes cases involving diverse industries and technologies.

Duties:

  • Handle all stages of IP litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation

  • Manage document production, conduct reviews, and oversee e-discovery processes

  • Participate in and lead meet-and-confer discussions regarding discovery

  • Prepare and conduct depositions (both taking and defending)

  • Collaborate with technical and legal experts in developing expert reports

  • Draft clear, compelling memoranda and legal briefs for court filings

  • Contribute to strategic planning and client advisory on pre-litigation and litigation matters

  • Engage in proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), including inter partes reviews (preferred)

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in intellectual property litigation, particularly patent disputes

  • Familiarity with PTAB trial procedures is strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage portions of complex cases

  • Strong analytical skills with a commitment to excellence in written and oral advocacy

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented practice group

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to a U.S. state bar in good standing (Texas bar admission preferred or willingness to obtain)

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and persuasive writing

  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail

  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain legal concepts to clients and colleagues

  • Aptitude for working in fast-paced environments and meeting tight deadlines

  • Interest or background in technology and innovation sectors (a plus)
