A law firm in Kalamazoo, MI, seeks a highly skilled Tax Litigation Attorney with a proven track record in tax court litigation. The ideal candidate will have extensive civil tax controversy experience and some public sector trial work background. Duties:

• Represent clients in tax litigation matters, including refund litigation and civil tax controversy cases.
• Manage and oversee all aspects of tax litigation files, including case preparation, strategy development, and client interactions.
• Lead cases through federal and state courts, ensuring compliance with legal procedures and effective advocacy.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, providing exceptional customer service and legal counsel.
• Collaborate with clients, IRS Chief of Counsel, U.S. Attorney’s Office, and DOJ Tax Division as necessary.
• Balance and manage multiple cases and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to business development and client acquisition.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax court litigation focusing on civil tax controversy.
• Experience in refund litigation matters is highly preferred.
• Previous experience working with the IRS Chief of Counsel, U.S. Attorney’s Office, and DOJ Tax Division is advantageous.
• Proven ability to develop business and manage a client portfolio with growth potential.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines with exceptional attention to detail.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Michigan Bar is required.
