Duties

• Advise high-net-worth individuals and families on complex estate and tax planning matters
• Draft and review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related documents
• Design and implement tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies
• Handle trust and estate administration
• Represent clients in probate and Surrogate's Court proceedings
• Provide legal counsel on charitable giving, business succession planning, and asset protection
• Collaborate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to ensure integrated planning
• Stay updated on federal and state tax laws affecting estates and trusts

Requirements

• 20 years of relevant legal experience
• Deep expertise in estate planning, trust law, and federal/state tax regulations
• Proven track record handling complex estate planning matters for high-net-worth clients
• Strong research, drafting, and analytical skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar (in good standing)
• LL.M. in Taxation preferred but not required
• Estate Planning certification or continuing education is a plus
