Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a skilled and motivated Medical Malpractice Associate Attorney to join its medical malpractice practice group in Detroit, MI. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in medical malpractice litigation, including handling depositions, pre-trial discovery, and trials. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team on complex litigation matters.

Duties:

  • Manage and assist with medical malpractice litigation, including depositions, discovery, and mediations.
  • Draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, and discovery requests.
  • Represent clients in trials and other court proceedings.
  • Analyze medical records and collaborate with medical experts.
  • Communicate with clients regularly, providing updates and legal advice.
  • Work independently and manage multiple cases.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Michigan Court Rules and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in medical malpractice litigation.
  • Proven experience conducting depositions.
  • Ability to handle all stages of litigation, including pre-trial discovery, motions, trials, and mediations.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of medical records and medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of Michigan Court Rules and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Comfortable with learning new case management and legal software.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Michigan Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Michigan Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a solid understanding of medical malpractice cases.
  • Ability to independently manage caseloads and litigation tasks.
