Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join their team in Seattle, WA. The successful candidate will work on maritime litigation and/or insurance coverage and bad faith defense teams.

Duties

• Investigate maritime incidents involving property damage or personal injury.
• Represent clients in all phases of incident response, from investigation to litigation to appeal.
• Draft and file pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Conduct legal research and participate in written discovery.
• Conduct depositions and appear for court hearings and trials.
• Provide strategic legal advice to clients regarding problem resolution.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and mediations.
• Analyze coverage and draft coverage opinions and related correspondence.
• Represent clients in all phases of bad faith litigation, from intake to trial.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience, with at least 1 year of coverage experience preferred.
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage cases independently and work collaboratively in a team.
• Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar and/or State Bar of California.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active membership in the Washington State Bar and/or State Bar of California.
