The
Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co provides legal services and advice
to the Firm globally. Legal is responsible for, among other things:
• managing actual and potential
litigation and enforcement matters, including internal reviews and
investigations related to such matters
• advising on products and services,
including contract negotiation and documentation
• advising on offering and marketing
documents and new business initiatives
• managing dispute resolution
• interpreting existing laws, rules and
regulations, and advising on changes thereto
• advising on advocacy in connection
with contemplated and proposed laws, rules and regulations, and
• providing legal advice to the Board of
Directors, the business and functions. Legal selects, engages and manages
outside counsel for the Firm on all matters in which outside counsel is
engaged.
The Human Resources
Law team within the Litigation Department currently has a vacancy for an
attorney. Chicago
is the preferred location.
In this role, you will provide
strategic legal advice on employment law with an emphasis on the evolving areas
of data, privacy, operations, and related matters, and prepare and review human resources
policies, procedures, agreements and other
documentation related to human resources and workforce management. You may work with Governance, Operations and Control, sitting at the
intersection of financial regulations, compensation and benefit issues,
employee culture and performance standards, corporate governance and reporting
in an evolving and complex environment with multiple constituencies. You will
provide support through global project work, counseling and operational
enhancements by offering proactive, creative, viable and scalable suggestions
to minimize risk.
You may also manage internal
investigations and employment claims at various stages (from threatened
litigation through hearing/trial) and in various jurisdictions and forums,
including investigating allegations, overseeing outside counsel, providing
strategy and risk assessments, and reporting on outcomes and trends.

JD
required. Attorney candidates must be in compliance with all relevant
licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction
where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment.Minimum
5 years of recent, relevant and broad employment litigation experience, as
well as significant advice and counsel experience in a major law firm,
large in-house setting or equivalent (required)Demonstrated
knowledge of state and federal employment discrimination and other
employment-related statutes, as well as common law employment claims
(required)Experience
in advising on data privacy issues relating to HR (required).Experience
handling full range of labor and employment issues, including performance
management, employee discipline, termination, severance, workplace
investigations, policy development, employment agreements, FLSA, FMLA,
wage and hour issues, workplace accommodations, applications, training,
incentive pay, and the protection of intellectual property, trade secrets
and confidential information (required)Experience preparing legal
documents including pleadings, discovery, motions etc. required;
deposition, oral argument, hearing and trial experience (preferred);Self-starter with strong organizational
skills and ability to handle high volume and balance competing demands
