Job Overview:
A well-established, multicultural law firm in Raleigh, NC is seeking a full-time Family Law Attorney to join its team. This role requires a compassionate yet assertive legal professional capable of navigating high-stakes and emotionally sensitive cases involving divorce, child custody, domestic violence, spousal support, and other family law matters. The ideal candidate will be experienced in both litigation and negotiation and have a deep commitment to guiding clients through some of the most challenging situations of their lives.
Location:
Raleigh, North Carolina
Duties:
Represent clients in family law court proceedings, including hearings and trials
Draft and file legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, and judgments
Advise clients on legal rights and responsibilities in matters such as divorce, child custody, visitation, child and spousal support, and equitable distribution
Conduct discovery, prepare evidence, and manage case files
Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to move cases efficiently through the litigation process
Maintain organized, detailed, and up-to-date client records
Develop strategic plans of action based on client goals and legal analysis
Handle emotionally charged and complex family law issues with professionalism and sensitivity
Requirements:
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in family law; 4–8 years preferred
Strong background in managing litigation from initial consultation through trial
Experience with child custody, support, domestic violence, contempt, and equitable distribution cases
Prior experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Detail-oriented and dependable
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume legal environment
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina
Active membership in the American Bar Association (preferred)
Skills:
Strong litigation, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills
Effective written and verbal communication abilities
Skilled in drafting complex legal documents and pleadings
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with diverse populations
