Intellectual Property Specialist

The candidate will be maintaining a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Communicating with precision and crispness, both in writing and verbally. Easily balancing and transitioning between tasks. Acquiring new skills and wearing different hats. Maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Collaborating toward a common goal with a closely-knit team. Preparing and filing U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) filings, often including multiple documents, in the USPTO’s Patent Center filing system. Filings include new patent applications, responses to office actions, application data sheets, and requests for correction of USPTO data. Satisfying due dates based on patent office mail and incoming client communications. Drafting letters and emails to be sent to clients and foreign counsel. Working the hours necessary to satisfy the responsibilities of the position. Taking initiative in other tasks, which may involve marketing and event planning, asking USPTO officials by telephone about the status of clients’ patent applications, booking and organizing travel itineraries, or collaborating on special IP projects. Must have 2-5 years of patent prosecution experience. English-language fluency. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Eligibility to work in the US. Availability to work full-time in our office in Tysons, Virginia.
