Job Title: SIU Litigation Attorney

Job Overview:
A respected law firm located in Roseland, NJ, is actively seeking a litigation attorney with a minimum of four years of experience, particularly in defending insurance-related fraud matters. The ideal candidate will play a strategic role in challenging fraudulent claims and initiating affirmative litigation, including complex actions under RICO. This position offers opportunities to work closely with SIU departments and manage multifaceted litigation across various insurance lines.

Duties:

• Collaborate with Special Investigations Units to assess and challenge fraudulent claims

• Develop and execute litigation strategies in both affirmative and defensive contexts

• Draft and file legal documents, including motions, memoranda, and briefs

• Conduct depositions and examinations under oath (EUOs)

• Represent clients in arbitrations, mediations, and court proceedings (state and federal)

• Engage in legal research and prepare fraud-based actions, including RICO cases

• Negotiate complex settlements and draft supporting documentation

• Handle litigation involving bodily injury, uninsured motorist claims, trucking/transportation, PIP, first-party property, and workers' compensation

• Appear in court for conferences, hearings, and status meetings

• Prepare and argue pre- and post-trial motions

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4 years of litigation experience, with a focus on insurance defense and fraud litigation

• Demonstrated experience with RICO or other affirmative action claims preferred

• Strong legal writing and negotiation skills

• Ability to manage complex caseloads and meet deadlines

• Experience in both state and federal courts

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in the state of New Jersey

• Admission to federal court preferred

Skills:

• Proficiency in case strategy development and execution

• Strong oral and written communication abilities

• Investigative aptitude and attention to legal detail

• Ability to work effectively with internal SIU teams and external clients

• Skilled in managing litigation from inception through resolution
