Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A Sacramento-based law firm known for its dynamic litigation practice is actively seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to support its growing team. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a variety of civil litigation matters. The role is ideal for a recently licensed attorney looking to build a strong foundation in insurance defense within a structured yet flexible hybrid work environment. Candidates will join a collaborative legal team committed to professional growth and impactful advocacy.

Duties:

• Manage a caseload involving civil defense matters, including auto, premises, professional, and general liability, and medical/dental malpractice

• Represent clients in court proceedings, including trials and hearings (in-person and virtual)

• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and correspondence

• Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal staff to develop case strategies

• Maintain detailed case files and meet deadlines for court filings and discovery

• Communicate effectively with clients, experts, and opposing counsel

• Participate in firm-sponsored professional development activities

Requirements:

• Active member in good standing with the State Bar of California and/or Nevada

• 0-2 years of relevant litigation or insurance defense experience

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

• Comfort with legal technology tools and platforms

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the California and/or Nevada Bar (Required)

Skills:

• Legal research and analysis

• Drafting and advocacy

• Litigation strategy and courtroom presence

• Time and task management

• Interpersonal and negotiation skills

• Familiarity with remote work tools and virtual hearing platforms
