Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. The university offers market competitive salary and benefits.

Position Description:

The primary job function of the Student Development Specialist is to monitor student's academic progress, develop Academic Improvement Plans, award scholarships, supervise students, maintain a relationship with Financial Aid, develop and implement financial literacy seminars, assist students in applying for financial aid, to maintain accurate documentation of student contact, and to help recruit, determine eligiblity, and complete student intakes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor students academic progress each semester, develop an Academic Improvement Plan and update as needed.
• Plan, develop, and facilitate student success seminars, and provide personal, academic and career advising as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation on students including contact sheets and eligibility.
• Help recruit, determine eligibility,complete intakes, and provide exit interviews when appropriate.
• Develop and deliver financial aid and financial literacy seminars.
• Maintain a working relationship with the Financial Aid Office.
• Assist students with the completion of the FAFSA and other financial aid paperwork.
• Award the ACE Scholarship and Grant Aid Scholarships.
• Participate in TRIO training and other professional development activities.
• Hire, train, and supervise work-study students and student workers.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to build rapport and sustain relationships with students.
• Experience and comfort working with diverse student populations, including but not limited to first generation students, low-income students and underrepresented students.
• High level of interpersonal communication, problem solving, time management and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with technology related to word processing and student information systems.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

Salary Commensurate with Experience

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
