Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Environmental Associate to join their Energy and Environmental practice team in Chicago, Illinois. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of experience in environmental enforcement actions, regulatory compliance, and transactional support. Candidates with experience from federal or Midwestern state agencies are encouraged to apply. A background in engineering, geology, or other scientific fields is welcomed but not required.

Duties

• Handle environmental enforcement actions and regulatory compliance.
• Provide transactional support for environmental matters.
• Engage in environmental litigation, including CERCLA cost recovery and toxic tort cases.
• Advise on energy rate work and air quality regulations.

Requirements

• 4-6 years of experience in environmental law.
• Experience in a law firm or government agency at the federal or state level.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, and Clean Water Act.

Education

• JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

Skills

• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and transactions.
• Experience or interest in energy and air quality regulations.
• Background in engineering, geology, or related scientific fields is a plus.
