Manager, Research and Development

The candidate will be responsible for helping clients identify, document, and support tax positions related to this specialty’s area of tax law upon examination and at appeals. In this role, the STS BIG Manager will assist with developing and driving related business development, process improvement, and team-building initiatives. Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in accounting, tax, or finance, is preferred. Master's degree, preferred. Juris Doctorate (J.D.), preferred Five (5) or more years of prior experience, are required. Prior experience supervising tax consulting professionals, is required. Experience in accounting, tax, or finance, is preferred. Prior experience in R&D tax consulting, is preferred. Prior experience preparing and/or reviewing tax provisions, is preferred. Prior experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships is preferred. CPA certification preferred. Enrolled Agent, preferred; proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word. Should have experience with tax-related software and research databases such as Caseware, GoSystems, and other comparable programs; knowledge, skills, and abilities in the R&D tax area commensurate with the level of experience required above; excellent oral and written communication skills; superior analytical and research skills; solid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details; ability to multi-task while working independently and within a group environment; proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Capable of effectively managing a team of tax professionals and delegating work assignments as needed. The capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with firm and client personnel and the ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels is a must. Should have the ability to cultivate a positive team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of team personnel. Executive presence and the ability to act as the primary contact on assigned engagements is a must.
